We are so very glad you can visit today; I have something super special the cutest little miniature pumpkins you will ever see and made with unique stitch patterns that aren't commonly used by other crocheters. Unique but yet simple enough for our beginner crocheters. This is the first addition to my Posh's little Mini's Pumpkins Collection for this fall Crochet Season, this miniature pumpkin in particular is very small they fit in the palm of your hand and are 2.5 x 2.5inches in diameter and 1.5inches tall. I absolutely love this one, even more so than the other crochet pumpkins I have published this year. Yes, this one is definitely my favorite! It might just be your favorite too. They are super quick and easy to make, we will be working side to side and forming a small rectangle that we will fold and sew up for the easiest of techniques. The materials list is located below along with a photo of supplies used. Have lots of fun making these and have a wonderful Fall holiday season. See you soon with more great FREE crochet patterns for this fall and Halloween!

 Materials List:

The yarn I used for this little cutie is LionBrands pound of Love in the color Pumpkin Spice which is a medium 4 weight acrylic yarn; any medium 4 weight yarn will work for a substitution. You will need a smaller hook than the recommended hook size for your yarn which you are using, I'm using a 3.125mm crochet hook I would recommend using either a 3.00mm or a 3.125mm or a 3.5mm crochet hook for this pattern with the medium 4 weight yarns. You will also need a yarn needle, scissors, poly-fill stuffing or any other means of stuffing, and a stem of some kind. I'm using a stem I made with air-dry clay which only takes about a grape size chunk to mold into a cute little stem, and super glue to glue your stem into the top center of your pumpkin.

To Begin: to work side to side begin with a slip knot on hook and chain 32. To work in the round continuously than make slip knot on hook and chain 31. * Note: if you do not want the pumpkin swells on your pumpkin and you want it to be a perfect ball shape when finished than I would work in the round. But if you plan on using the technique to make swells than I would recommend using the side-to-side method.

Row 1: if using side to side method than in 2cnd ch. from hook make (1sc in the back bump), in next ch. make (1dc in the back bump), repeat (1sc in the back bump) and in next ch. (1dc in the back bump). For in the round method after joining in the circle ch.1 and in same ch. make 1sc, in next ch. make 1dc, repeat 1sc in next chain, than 1dc in the next chain. once done you will ch.1 and turn if working side to side and if working in the round than slip stitch join in first sc of the row and ch.1 to prepare for next row.

Row 2-Row 10: repeat row 1

once Row 10 is finished fold both sides together and slip stitch closed, if you do not want to slip stitch you can always thread yarn needle and whip stitch together. Make sure you at least a 24-inch-long yarn tail. Once done thread yarn into yarn needle and weave your yarn needle in and out of the front loop facing you and pull yarn tight to close top. Once top is closed fill your pumpkin with stuffing, after stuffed insert yarn needle through the center hole through the center of pumpkin and out the top center. Next step you will now repeat the same process to close the top weave yarn needle in and out of top front loop only and close. now it is time to make your pumpkin impressions; the swells of the pumpkin are made by using the long yarn tail threaded with the yarn needle. Your Posh Mini-Pumpkin has 7 swells we will wrap the yarn around the outside of the pumpkin and insert the yarn needle through the bottom center and back through the top again. making sure we pull the yarn tightly, so it pulls in on itself and creates a bulge. We will repeat this process adjusting the yarn in equal parts around the pumpkin about a width of a fingernail apart from each other. Don't fret you can do this! and it will be so much fun you'll want to make a bunch more :)

For your stem I used regular air-dry clay and only about a grape sized amount. I then squeezed and worked the dough a few times, rolled it into an oval shape then pinched the middle and twisted the dough over and over then the tip top I pulled slightly then I cut off the top access to form what looks like a small stem. After I let dry overnight, I painted my stem a base color of peach like color and then applied several different shades of browns from lights to dark in different areas to create depth. Once dried I then applied small amounts of an olive green to create more depth impressions for my finishing touches. The olive green really made this stem pop and made it resemble more like a real pumpkin stem. Once dried it is now ready to be glued onto the center of the pumpkin; any super glue will work fine but, I like to use the E6000 brand it is super strong like cement and is just what I prefer to use for all my crafting. You can find this in your local Walmart craft aisle across the U.S.A. Congratulations! YAY! for finishing your first very own miniature fabric pumpkin!
