Materials list:
You will need a super bulky #6 weight yarn (In photo using LionBrand Hometown in the colors Hoboken honey and Aspen tweed), you will need an 8.00mm crochet hook for any super bulky #6 weight yarn, and a pair of scissors and a large eye yarn needle large enough to fit your yarn.
*Note Aspen Tweed color comes in 64 yards per skein you will need just a little over 2 balls for a size adult large but only 2 balls for the adult medium. Hoboken Honey color comes in 81 yards like the other Hometown yarns, and you will use 1. 25 skeins to make Adult medium. With a little under 2 rolls I was able to make an adult medium and newborn size.
How-to crochet a hdcslip= yarn over wrapping the yarn around your hook to prepare for a half double crochet, insert hook into the chain, yarn over and pull the yarn through the stitch and up, you now have 3 loops on your hook, catch the first loop with your hook and pull that loop through the other two loops on your hook. Hdcslip complete.

we will repeat Row 2 and Row 3 over and over until (either you complete the amount of rows given /or until you complete the width measurement needed for your size.) * Very important once you have finished making your flat panel, before sewing sides together to finish ALWAYS measure first and make sure the width is correct for your size to ensure that it fits. To ensure that your measurements are correct please see below- Sizing Charts Given. There are two sizing charts to follow. The one size chart that says Head Size Chart; this is the chart you measure your crown of your head to match your size newborn -Adult Small or Adult Medium or Adult Large? Next review chart that says Beanie Hat Size Chart once you have completed your number of rows for your size. This chart will assist you in making sure your measurements are correct for each size to ensure that it fits correctly. Depending on your tension will determine how wide your panel will be no matter the correct number of rows it can differ if your tension is loose or tight. This pattern was made and designed with tight snug stitches. * Note we will end on an odd row for sewing our panel together.
Newborn: repeat row 2 and row 3 until either Row 25 or until you complete 12 inches wide.
3-6 months old : repeat Row 2 and Row3 until either Row 27 or until you complete 14 inches wide.
6-12 months old: repeat Row 2 and Row 3 until either Row 31 or until you complete 15 inches wide.
Toddler 1-3 years old: repeat Row 2 and Row 3 until either Row 33 or until you complete 16 inches wide.
Child Sizes 3-10 years old: repeat Row 2 and Row 3 until either Row 35 or until you complete 16.5 inches wide.
Teen/Adult Small: repeat Row 2 and Row 3 until either Row 35 or until Row or until you complete 17 inches wide.
Adult Medium: repeat Row 2 and Row 3 until either Row 39 or until you complete 18.5 inches wide.
Adult large: repeat row 2 and Row 3 until either row 43 or 20 inches wide.
After you have completed your panel for newborn-up to 6-12 months old cut 15 inch yarn tail for sewing sides together. For Toddler 1-3 years old cut 15 inch yarn tail. For Child 3-10 years old up to Teen/Adult Small cut 20 inches of yarn tail. For Adult medium up to Adult large cut 24 inch yarn tail.
with the front knit, and purl side facing you fold the two sides of completed panel together. Thread yarn needle with the yarn tail you cut from your last row. Insert yarn needle through the last loop on hook to bind off. Bind off by pulling yarn tail tightly till a knot forms. Now you are ready to begin stitching your two sides together. In the front loop of the first chain of the side closest to you insert yarn needle there, now insert yarn needle into the back loop of the first chain on the opposite side the side furthest away from you. and pull yarn tightly to secure. Next stitch down insert on that same side (the side furthest away from you) insert yarn needle into the back loop of that second stitch now insert yarn needle into the front loop of the second chain on the opposite side (the side closest to you) and pull tightly to secure. repeat these two main steps for each chain going downward until both sides are joined together. Weave in that yarn end on the inside of the beanie unseen. Also weave in any and all yarn ends inside the beanie unseen except for the beginning yarn tail for your beginning foundation chain you first began with. That yarn tail will be used to sew the top of our beanie closed. The end with the slip stitches is the end we will use to close the top crown of beanie (where we would place a pom pom). Once finished turn beanie right side out knit and purl side facing you. Now we will close the top of our beanie, thread yarn tail with yarn needle. Thread through the top ribbing in the very top stitch, repeat this in each ribbing which is every other row. Pull yarn tight to cinch the top closed. Continue to repeat this process around in the top circle continuously threading through the stitches in a circle. Do this process all the way around three times to cinch a perfect tight close. After you have cinched a very tight close insert yarn needle through beanie and out through the inside. Turn beanie inside out and weave that tail on inside to hide. Congratulations your Aspen Beanie is complete! You can now wear your beanie as either a form fitted beanie, a folded brim beanie and or a slouch beanie.
